Overview

“Append to Google Doc” is a Chrome extension that allows users to quickly save selected text from any webpage to their Google Docs. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data.

Key Points:

  • We do NOT collect or store your personal data on any server

  • We do NOT sell or share your data with third parties

  • All data processing happens locally in your browser

Information We Access

To provide our service, the extension accesses:

  • Selected text: The text you highlight on webpages when using the extension

  • Page URL: The URL of the webpage where you selected the text (included as source reference)

  • Google Account: Used for authentication to access your Google Docs via OAuth 2.0

How We Use Information

The information accessed is used solely to:

  • Append your selected text to your specified Google Doc

  • Include the source URL as a reference in the appended content

  • Authenticate with Google to access your documents

Data Storage

The extension stores the following data locally in your browser:

  • Google Doc URL: The document you’ve configured to append text to

  • Authentication token: Temporarily stored to maintain your Google sign-in session

This data is stored using Chrome’s built-in storage API and never leaves your device except when communicating directly with Google’s APIs.

Third-Party Services

This extension uses the following Google services:

  • Google OAuth 2.0: For secure authentication

  • Google Docs API: To append text to your documents

Your use of these services is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.

Data Sharing

We do NOT share your data with any third parties. The only data transmission that occurs is:

  • Between your browser and Google’s servers (for authentication and document editing)

Your Rights

You can:

  • Sign out: Remove Google authentication at any time via the extension popup

  • Clear data: Remove all stored data by uninstalling the extension

  • Revoke access: Remove the extension’s access to your Google account at Google Account Permissions

Security

We implement security best practices including:

  • Using OAuth 2.0 for secure authentication (we never see your Google password)

  • All communication with Google APIs uses HTTPS encryption

  • No server-side storage of any user data

Children’s Privacy

This extension is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
